Ten weekly rounds
Milky Way season starts on Oct 26 and runs for ten weeks, ending on Jan 4. Here is how it works.
The season is made up of ten weekly rounds. Each round starts on a Monday (UTC) and runs for seven days. The first round begins on Oct 26 and the last one covers Dec 28 – Jan 3 (UTC). No points are created from the week that starts on Jan 4.
Each week is counted on its own, so you can read your progress week by week.
One shared pool each week
Every week, a fixed number of points is shared across everyone taking part. The pool is currently 125,000 points a week. It is not an amount per account, and it is not a percentage of what you trade. Your share depends on your activity compared with everyone else's that week.
The pool is split 80% for trading and 20% for retention. The retention share is divided by activity score: your activity score compared with everyone else's that week. Trading volume is not a fixed exchange rate for points, and the same dollar volume in different products may not earn the same amount.
The pool and how it is split can change during the season. Your points page shows the estimated numbers.
What points are
Points record your activity during Milky Way season. They cannot be withdrawn or converted to cash. They are a way to see how you took part, week by week.
